DUI Incident
Police said they received a report about 3:49 pm on October 1 that a motorist had driven into a stone wall near the intersection of Eden Hill Road and Putnam Drive, near the Easton town line.
After responding to the scene, police found the vehicle in question and investigated, charging motorist Scott Lukachik, 61, of Philadelphia, Penn., with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane, After processing, Lukachik was released from custody on a written promise to appear in court on October 16.
Four Charges
Police report that while on patrol in Sandy Hook about 10:30 pm on September 30, they spotted a moving auto that had several apparent vehicular violations, so they stopped the driver, who had entered the Exit 11 on-ramp, for Interstate 84 to investigate.
Police said the motorist provided them with a false identity. After investigating, police charged motorist Jasmen Buice, 29, of Derby with interfering with police, failure to have automotive insurance, driving with a suspended license, and improper use of marker plates,.
Following arrest processing, police issued Buice an October 11 appearance date in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury, Also, Newtown police said they turned over Buice to Hamden police, who held a warrant for her arrest.
Evading Responsibility
Police report they are investigating an incident that occurred about 1:30 pm on September 29 in which 2017 Volkswagen Golf sports wagon, which is owned by a Danbury woman, was damaged on its right/rear quadrant while the VW was properly parked in parking space at the parking lot of Blue Colony Diner at 66 Church Hill Road.
An unknown motorist driving an unknown vehicle apparently drove into the VW, damaging it, and then drove away without reporting the collision. Police said they investigated the reports of witnesses regarding what had occurred, but have not been able to identify the offender.
Interstate DUI
State police report they received multiple calls concerning an erratic driver on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 11, so they went to that area about 11 pm on September 29 to investigate.
State police found the blue Toyota Corolla in question and stopped it to investigate, after which they charged motorist Jairo Mejia-Aguilar, 31, of New Haven with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, failure to drive in the proper lane, and failure to display proper head lamps.
Following arrest processing, state police released Mejia-Aguilar on $5,000 bail for a court appearance.
I-84 Crash
On eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, at about 4 pm on September 28, motorist Andrew Roden, 75, of Bethlehem, who was driving a 2007 Ford F-350 truck that was hauling a trailer, attempted to change travel lanes, and the Ford’s trailer struck an adjacent 2018 Jeep Wrangler SUV being driven by Rose Brooks, 48, of Naugatuck, police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Climbing Lane
A two-vehicle accident occurred on the westbound climbing lane of Mount Pleasant Road, just west of Academy Lane, at about 6 pm, on September 28.
Motorist Linda Daurio, 66, of Brookfield was driving a 2013 Honda Civic in the climbing lane and then slowed, after which the Honda was hit from behind by motorist Odon DeSouza, 45, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Nissan Maxima sedan, police said.
Stony Hill Ambulance transported Daurio to Danbury Hospital for a medical evaluation, police added. DeSouza received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Truck Hits Lines
At about 8:29 am on September 26, the top of a large Mack truck being driven northward on Bennetts Bridge Road by Brian Ceresna, 61, of Fairfield struck some cable television lines and telephone lines that were strung across the roadway between two utility poles, police said. On impact, the lines dropped to the ground. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Nissan Vs Ford
At about 1:48 pm on September 26, motorist Carter Dinkeloo, 74, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck on westbound Interstate, near Exit 11, was sideswiped by motorist Luke Lamanna, 23, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima.
There were no injuries. State police said Lamanna failed to merge properly.
