Bill Cafarelli Honored By Videographers Association
Bill Cafarelli, co-owner of Video Art Works, Sandy Hook, was recently
presented with the first ever Walter Bennett Service to Industry Award by the
Wedding and Event Videographers Association (WEBA).
Mr Cafarelli, a long-time Sandy Hook resident with his wife and business
partner, Marleen, has been in the wedding and event industry for over a
decade. He is also past president of the Professional Videographers
Association of Connecticut (PVA/CT), long-time member of its board of
directors, and he created and edited the PVA/CT's first newsletter.
Walter Bennett, the late founder and president of the Oklahoma Professional
Videographers Association of Tulsa, was a nationally recognized event video
pioneer who dedicated himself to helping videographers come together as
colleagues instead of as competitors.
Mr Bennett, who died in 1996, spent innumerable hours working on behalf of his
fellow videographers, both locally and nationally, and shared his wealth of
experience with thousands of others.
In her presentation speech at the WEBA convention held this year at Bally's
Hotel in Las Vegas, Awards Committee chairperson Kathy Ritondo told the
attendees of the WEBA Awards Dinner that Mr Cafarelli "...selflessly promoted
devotion to the industry by example. This is a guy who never says `no can do.'
He helps anyone who asks and patiently explains the how and why of just about
anything. I guarantee he is sitting in his chair right now not even suspecting
that we're honoring him." Ms Ritondo was right in accepting the award. Mr
Cafarelli could only say, "Thank you."
