Health Series To Begin Sept 23 At Booth Library

The doctors and staff of Newtown Chiropractic and Community Health Associates
will present a series of four autumn health seminars, "Assuming Responsibility
for Your Health," at the C.H. Booth Library beginning Thursday, September 23,
from 7 to 8:30 pm in the meeting room.
The first seminar, "Back Pain and Headaches, Understanding, Avoiding, and
Treating," will include a complimentary therapeutic massage for those who
attend.
There is no charge for this seminar. Healthy refreshments will be served.
Lower back pain problems, which affect virtually everyone at some time, are
second only to the common cold for office visits to the family physician. The
combined approach of medical treatment and chiropractic care has been
demonstrated to offer the back pain sufferer a significant reduction in
symptoms and a way to avoid future problems, according to the specialists at
Newtown Chiropractic and Community Health Associates.
Headaches are often caused by the stresses and strains of everyday life. While
medicines can help the pain, many headaches can be significantly improved with
adequate rest, hydration, and relaxation. Many have telltale symptoms that
warn when they are coming. Learning to listen to your body's signals can turn
any headache from a misery into a manageable problem.
For additional information, call the library at 426-4533.
Other seminars will be as follows: September 30, "Exercise and Nutrition";
October 7, "Reducing Stress Through Relaxation and Massage"; and October 14,
"Risk Factors and Your Heart's Integrity."
Taking part in the seminars are Dr Richard Coopersmith of Newtown
Chiropractic, and Dr Jeffrey P. Friedman, Dr Theresa Piotrowski, Dr Nancy
Bell, Diana Rackey, family nurse practitioner, Judith Dreyer, nutrition
consultant, and Virginia Weisgerber, message therapist, of Community Health
Associates.
Dr Coopersmith has been practicing in Newtown for the past 20 years. He is the
director of the Newtown Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center. His practice

for the past 16 years. He also has extensive experience in geriatric care and
has served as the medical director for Ashlar of Newtown for the past 14
years.
Dr Piotrowski and Dr Bell are family practitioners with special interest in
the areas of pediatrics, newborn care, and woman's health. They have each been
practicing medicine for ten years.
