Joseph A. Fischer

Joseph A. Fischer, 64, of Warner Robins, Ga., died suddenly July 30 at his

home of natural causes.

Born in Yonkers, N.Y., he grew up in Lake Carmel, N.Y.

He is survived by a daughter, Lori A. Liska of Sandy Hook; her husband,

Jeffrey; and one grandson, Kurtis; a brother, James Fischer of Lake Carmel,

N.Y.; a sister, Donna Scott of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and eight nieces and

nephews.

A memorial service is being held on Friday, August 20, at Corodvano's Funeral

Home in Lake Carmel. Burial will be private.

Alyce E. Rowins

Alyce E. Rowins, 87, wife of the late John Rowins, of Rowledge Pond Road,

Sandy Hook, died on August 11 in the Lutheran Home in Southbury.

She was born in New Milford on September 24, 1911, daughter of the late

Stanley and Gladys Golembeski. A resident of Newtown for 40 years, Mrs Rowins

was a member of St Rose Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Bobowick and Jane Fitzgerald, both

of Sandy Hook; five grandchildren, Scott and Todd Bobowick, Kelly Carey,

Kirsten Gelston and Adam Fitzgerald; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of

Christian Burial was celebrated on August 14 at St Rose Church in Newtown.

Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in Mrs Rowins' memory to St Rose Church, Project

'99, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470.

Arrangements were by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Raymond Kamaitis

Raymond Kamaitis, 78, of 75 West Street, Shelton, died August 12 in Shady

Knoll Convalescent Center, Seymour, after a brief illness. He was the father

of Suzanne Henley of Newtown.

He was the husband of the late Elsie (Gross) Kamaitis. Mr Kamaitis was born in

Naugatuck, December 14, 1920, son of the late Raymond and Lenore (Adamitis)

Kamaitis and had been a lifelong Shelton resident. He was a retired factory

employee for the Better Package Company, Shelton, for many years and was a

milkman for Bordon's Mitchell Dairy. He was a World War II veteran, serving in

the United States Marine Corp in Guadalcanal and was a member of the VFW Post

#1236 in Shelton, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Shelton Senior

Citizen Center.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by a son, Raymond Kamaitis of

Milford; grandchildren, Raymond, Kristine, Edward, William and Denise; and

several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Anne Rathburn and

two sisters-in-law, Lillian Sheehy and Martha Gross.

His funeral with full military honors was held on August 14 with a Mass of the

Resurrection in St Joseph Church, Shelton. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery,

Shelton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of the lower

Naugatuck Valley, 1 Positive Place, Shelton, CT 06484.

The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, was in charge of

arrangements.

Michael A. Salik

Michael A. Salik, 82, of Drummers Lane in Newtown, died on August 11 at his

home.

He was born in Waterbury on August 15, 1916, and was a resident of Newtown for

40 years. He was a former employee of Harvey Hubbell Company. During World War

II Mr Salik served in the US Army. He was wounded in the Rhineland campaign

and was awarded a Bronze Star.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; a loving niece, Catherine Azzarito; and

several other nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial

was in St Michael's Cemetery in Stratford.

Contributions may be made in Mr Salik's memory to St Mary's Church, 24

Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, CT 06801.

Arrangements were by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Anita Ross Bonacci Cuhsnick

Anita (Ross) Bonacci Cuhsnick, 72, of 55 Sugar Street, Newtown, wife of Konrad

Cuhsnick, and widow of Joseph Bonacci, died August 14 at New Milford Hospital.

She was the mother of Ross Bonacci of Newtown.

Mrs Cuhsnick was born in Greenwich, June 26, 1927, a daughter of the late

Joseph and Catherine (Purcell) Ross.

She had lived in Newtown for the past 30 years and had been employed at

Fairfield Hills Hospital before her retirement in 1992.

Besides her husband and son, she is survived by another son, Joseph Bonacci of

Bozeman, Mont.; a brother, Burke Ross of Huntington; a sister, Julie Kirkland

of Naugatuck; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was

predeceased by a brother, John Ross; and a sister, Catherine Silva.

Memorial services were held August 18 in the Northville Baptist Church, New

Milford, with the Rev Dr George W. Britt officiating. Burial was at the

convenience of the family.

Society, 40 North Street, Danbury, CT 06810.

John J. Saputo, Sr

John J. Saputo, Sr, 83, former resident of Castle Meadow Road, Newtown, died

in Plattsburgh Hospital, Plattsburgh, N.Y., on August 3.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine, of West Moriah Road, Moriah, N.Y.; two

sons, John J. Saputo, III, and his wife, Laurie of Florida, and Anthony Saputo

and his wife, Nancy, of Maryland; two grandsons, John J. Saputo, IV, and Shane

Saputo; and one great-granddaughter.

Mr Saputo was a long-time member and former president of the United Fire

Company of Botsford, Inc.
