Jane Sherman
Jane Lillian Sherman, age 95, most recently of Fairfield, Conn., beloved wife of the late David B. Sherman, passed into eternal rest on September 13, 2023.
Jane was born January 24, 1928, in Sharon, Conn., the daughter of the late Amelia Woodin Williams and Ernest C. Williams.
She is survived by her twin sister, Gene L. Kaechele, of Brookfield, Conn. and her husband, Frederick (since deceased); a brother, John C. Williams of Fairfield, Conn.; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard E. Williams, of Palm City, Fla.
Jane lived a life full of faith, family, and friends. She grew up in Stepney, Conn. and graduated from Bassick High School.
A double wedding with her sister and brother-in-law took place on May 24, 1952, at Stepney Baptist Church. Jane and David then settled in Newtown, Conn.
Jane retired after many dedicated years working at her job in food service at Fairfield Hills State Hospital in Newtown. She and David enjoyed seasonal homes in Florida and New Hampshire, building many friendships along the way.
Following the passing of her husband, Jane returned to live in Monroe, and later in Newtown.
Family celebrations of all types brought much joy and were held dear to her heart. She was especially grateful for her friends through Stepney Baptist Church with whom she enjoyed many Sundays of worship, working with the Ladies Aid group, and providing many grand coffee hours!
A service celebrating Jane’s life will be held at Stepney Baptist Church 423 Main Street in Monroe, on Saturday, October 7, with Pastor Kevin Merritt officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, 850 Sport Hill Road in Easton. People may pay their respects at church beginning at 11 am before the funeral service at 11:30 am.
