The public is invited to join Newtown Community Center staff for its Open House on Saturday, October 5, from 11 am to 4 pm. The recently opened center is within the Fairfield Hills campus, at 8 Simpson Street.

Guests will be invited to join in an afternoon of activities, including demonstrations, food and refreshments, entertainment, music, arts, crafts, and more.

Visitors are invited to “Come Fly a Kite” with Newtown Parks & Recreation members throughout the day. Or, participate in science experiments with EverWonder Children’s Museum from 11 am to 2 pm; and try belly dancing in the center’s health and wellness studio at 11 or 11:30 am.

Chick-Fil-A will provide lunch from 11 am to noon for the first 200 attendees. And DJ Austin Daly will entertain in the multipurpose room from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

Water volleyball will take place at noon, and a cannonball contest, with inflatables from Super Fun Inflatables, will be at 1 pm.

The magic hour happens from 2 to 3 pm with Zach Alexander — the Great Magic Show.

The afternoon will continue with Bring The Hoopla from 2 to 3 pm. Face painting, arts, crafts, popcorn, games, and a pool party will be ongoing all day.

Reservations are not needed, but additional information is available at 203-270-4349 or newtowncommunitycenter.org.
