Letters Of Endorsement
To the editor:
We, the people of the 106th District, who have been so aptly served and nurtured over these past years by former State Representative Julia Wasserman, have a unique opportunity to continue that leadership and dedication with Will Rodgers.
With his servantâs heart, Will cannot help but serve his town, community, and country. Whether as chairman of the Legislative Council or leading public hearings on the budget, Will has demonstrated his willingness to listen to both sides of an issue and skillfully bring the group to consensus. He continually applies his skills as an attorney to get to the core of issues. A seasoned public servant, Will is prepared to take those skills to Hartford.
Will does not have an âagenda,â which would prevent him from even considering another viewpoint. His goal has always been to balance the needs of Newtownâs diverse population, from our children to the elderly. As Republicans, we share the principle of doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people, and Will and his wife, Moira, are prime examples of that. Moira has dedicated many hours to the Fairfield Hills management team, with a goal of maintaining the beautiful open feeling of the campus while providing for municipal space needs, as well as a commercial presence to diversify the tax base.
When the time came to serve his country, Will, a colonel in the US Marine Corps Reserve, did not hesitate to sign up for active duty in Iraq. Since his daughter was grown, he chose to serve so that a father of younger children would not have to go. That is the kind of man Will is. He does not bring a lot of attention to himself, just quietly does what needs to be done.
In these days of economic stress and budget constraints, we need someone of Willâs acumen and character in Hartford. As Julia has decided not to run again, we could not be in better hands than with Will Rodgers at the helm.
Sincerely,
Carol Recht
