Ken is a local young father and husband, and has been out of work and unable to drive since the diagnosis. His wife has been a stay-at-home mom since their oldest child was born. She plans on going back to work after the New Year, but needs to be around now to help him get to and from his treatments.
In the meantime, they have a 1-year-old and 3-year-old they were planning on taking to Disney World in a few years, but since they donât know what Kenâs condition will be, they pushed the trip forward to this coming December. Obviously with both parents unemployed, they could use some help with living and âone last wishâ funds.
Our neighborhood has pulled together to form a large tag sale this weekend, October 4 and 5. There will be a fire truck from Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company here on Saturday for the kids to check out. In addition, there will be a bake sale with food and beverages from some neighborhood families, Dunkinâ Donuts and local Andreaâs Bakery. Finally, there will also eight great silent auction packages â there is something for everyone!
All profits from this weekend will go directly to the family in the hopes that we can help ease some of their financial difficulties. With that said, please, if you are in the area (Quarry Ridge Road, near the top of Toddy Hill Road. (Exit 11 on I-84) this weekend, stop by and check out the available goodies! Weâll be set up from 9 to 2 on Saturday and 9 to 12 on Sunday.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Greenawalt
