Connecticut DEP Announces 'Show Your Colors' Photo Op
Connecticut DEP Announces
âShow Your Colorsâ Photo Op
The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced a brand-new photo opportunity for amateur photographers in Connecticut.
Beginning October 1, photographers of all ages can submit âFall Foliageâ photos for publication on the DEP website.
ââShow Your Colors, Connecticutâ is designed as a way of sharing Connecticutâs beautiful fall landscape with others,â said DEP Commissioner Gina McCarthy. â[It is] not meant to be a contest or competition in any way, shape, or form, but a way to showcase to others what a spectacular fall landscape can be found just minutes from anyoneâs home. As part of Governor Rellâs âStaycationâ program, everyone is encouraged to explore the varied scenes readily available in Connecticut, such as trees located in coastal areas, farm scenes, lakes and rivers, and parks; from city life to Connecticutâs towns and villages.â
Photos should feature trees and leaves â the key ingredients of Connecticutâs fall foliage display. Photos can be of vistas, forests, farms or more, but they must be taken in Connecticut. There should be no identifiable people in the photos.
Suggested photo themes include coastal scenes and shorelines of lakes, ponds and rivers; forest scenes, including photos of wildlife; farm scenes; recreational scenes; individual trees, including trees in parks and along roads; and scenes of city life and pictures from Connecticutâs towns and villages.
Photos should be color, digital photos that have not been substantially retouched or significantly reduced. Cropped photos are acceptable.
Not all photos that are submitted will be displayed.
Photos to be chosen will be selected based primarily on how well they capture the experience of viewing fall foliage in Connecticut.
All photos must have been taken during this yearâs fall foliage season.
