Scholarships Through Newtown High School

The following scholarships have arrived in the Career Center at Newtown High School. Applications and/or more information are kept on file there. Scholarships are also listed weekly in The Bee when available (although only the new ones can be listed each time.) Current list of ALL those available are kept on file in the Career Center to take home.

In the Career Center advertises all scholarships that are received in the mail. A few of the scholarships, usually national ones, request that some money be sent with the scholarship application. The Career Center is of the opinion that students should not have to pay to apply for scholarships; however, if a student chooses to apply for a scholarship that charges a fee, it is strongly suggested that the scholarship be checked out first with one of the following organizations:

FTC Consumer Response Center: www.ftc.gov or 877-FTC-HELP (382-4357)

National Fraud Information Center: www.fraud.org or 800-876-7060

Better Business Bureau: www.bbb.org or 703-276-0100

This is the only way to be sure that money is not being taken by a scholarship scam organization.
