Jacqueline Maskell

Jacqueline Zeis Maskell died September 28 at Brightwood Retirement Home in Lutherville, Md. A resident of nearby Timonium, Md., she was 72.

She resided in Newtown from 1980 to 1985.

Mrs Maskell performed volunteer library work at the Barclay School library in Baltimore. Before that she was a librarian for The Calvert School in Baltimore and Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham, Mass. Mrs Maskell also volunteered at Hampton Mansion in Towson, Md., giving tours to visitors. Besides her volunteer work, she enjoyed reading mysteries and entertaining family and friends.

She was born Jacqueline Zeis in East St Louis, Mo., the eldest of four children. Mrs Maskell graduated from high school in Moultrie, Ga., and from Goucher College in 1952.

Her husband was the late Thomas P. Maskell, Jr. They settled in Baltimore after her husband’s service in the Air Force. They moved frequently, living in Endwell, N.Y., River Vale, N.J., Madison, Conn., Wilbraham, Mass., and in Newtown. Mrs Maskell moved to Timonium, Md., after the death of her husband in 1985.

A memorial gathering was held October 1 at the Lemmon Funeral Home at 10 West Padonia Road, Timonium.

Mrs Maskell is survived by her mother, Dorothy Zeis, her sister, Karen Smith, and a brother, Robert Zeis, all of Des Moines, Iowa. She has four children, Sara Brower Moran of Annapolis, Md., Kimberly A. Maskell of Richmond, Va., Thomas P. Maskell II of Millersville, Md., and Lynn M. Colvin of Chadds Ford, Penn. She also has five grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew Brower, Thomas P. Maskell IV, and Samantha and William Colvin.
