To Speak At
Regional Hospice Anniversary Dinner
DANBURY â Author and surgeon Bernie Siegel, MD, is the guest speaker for Regional Hospice of Western Connecticutâs 20th Anniversary Recognition Dinner on Thursday, October 9, beginning at 5:30, at the Amber Room Colonnade.
âDeath is a part of life and yet we deny it,â said Dr Siegel. âHospice helps us to heal our lives and make the most important transition we ever have to make a peaceful one.â His presentation is titled, âUnderstand Why, Imitate How and Know When: Values of the Hospice Philosophy in Supporting Patients with Serious or Life-Threatening Illnesses and Their Importance in Everyday Living.â
Dr Siegel plans to discuss how to be immortal, what in life is permanent, how to live and die laughing, what the angel of death teaches and what the dying teach about living.
Dr Siegel, who founded ECaP (Exceptional Cancer Patients), is well-known for his many books advocating patient empowerment. His best sellers include, Love, Medicine & Miracles; Peace, Love & Healing; and How to Live Between Office Visits: A Guide to Life, Love and Health.
âCarefrontation,â a loving, safe therapeutic confrontation that facilitates personal change and healing, is at the heart of Dr Siegelâs message encouraging people to take an active role in their own healing process. Dr Siegel travels extensively with his wife Bobbie to speak and run workshops sharing his techniques and experience.
âBernie will lend special meaning and inspiration to our evening with his remarks,â said Roberta Reed, senior vice president of retail lending for NewMil Bank and chair of the 20th anniversary celebration. Regional Hospice helps patients and their families manage the stress of coping with serious illness. Through skilled and supportive care, Regional Hospice believes people can approach the end of life with comfort and dignity.
Proceeds from the dinner directly benefit Regional Hospiceâs programs. Tickets are $75 and can be reserved by calling 797-1685, ext 12.
