Team Ryan LLS Fundraiser, October 11
DANBURY — Team Ryan will host a Poker Run on Sunday, October 11, to continue its fundraising efforts for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Team Ryan is named for young Sandy Hook resident Ryan Costa, who was diagnosed in 2014, at age 2½, with Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). His family has been fundraising to find a cure for the disease, which is common in boys, according to his doctors. Pre-B ALL is treatable with a three-plus year protocol.
Ryan’s parents and friends have dedicated themselves to raising funds to support LLS and its mission to cure blood cancers.
Ryan has been named an Honored Hero for the LLS Light The Night Walk for Fairfield County, scheduled for October 17 in Stamford.
The October 10 Poker Run will continue Team Ryan’s fundraising efforts. The public is invited to join Ryan at Harley-Davidson of Danbury, 51 Federal Road. Registration opens at 9 am, and a ride will begin from that location at 11.
Cost for any vehicle is $30, and the route will bring all drivers back to Harley-Davidson. Food, live music and raffles will also take place at the dealership. Cost for those who wish to attend just the picnic is $20 per person.
All net proceeds will be donated to ALLS through Team Ryan. Last year Team Ryan raised over $5,000 for LLS/Light The Night. This year, according to Julie Barbeau, Ryan’s mother, the team is hoping to double that amount.
