Letter Of Endorsement
To the Editor:
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every Newtown resident had the positive outlook and commitment of John Godin! John currently serves on the Board of Finance and is running again in the upcoming election. His willingness to serve another term would truly benefit our town.
Experience does matter! John is a risk management executive with GE Capital. He has served generously on the Board of Assessment Appeals, the Charter Revision Commission, the C.H. Booth Library Board of Trustees, and the Samaritan Health Center Board. Currently he is also a member of the Republican Town Committee.
John and I met when we were members of the Booth Library Board of Trustees. From day one, John’s role was financial, and his goal was to assist the library in acquiring much-needed funds. In a very short time, John founded the popular Turkey Trot Road Race, which is held annually on Thanksgiving Day; the library will forever be grateful for his energy and endless enthusiasm!
The Board of Finance is obviously an extremely significant Newtown body. Major financial decisions must be thoughtfully reached by capable, sincere, and informed citizens. John has served well on this board.
I believe that there are three traits a Newtown voter should consider before marking the box next to a candidate’s name on a ballot: 1. Commitment; 2. Knowledge; 3. Energy.
John Godin meets all requirements. I am grateful for his time and talent and hope you will join me in supporting him.
