Former Owner Newtown General Store And Hawleyville Deli
Rita M. Nimer, 78, of Brookfield, wife of the late James Nimer, Sr, and former co-proprietor of the Hawleyville Deli, Newtown General Store, and the Hi-Way Market, died September 29, at her home. Mrs Nimer was born in Danbury, May 10, 1931, a daughter of Alexander and Hattie (LaJoie) Perusse.
She attended Danbury schools. After raising her five children, she joined her husband in the operation of their business. She was a hospital volunteer and enjoyed cooking, and lived daily for her husband, children, and most especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs Nimer is survived by three sons, James Nimer, Jr, Randall Nimer and his wife, Tami, and Darin Nimer and his wife, Amy, all of Brookfield; two daughters, Cindy Koslosky and her husband, Steve, of Washington Depot and Kathleen Watson and her husband, John, of Brookfield; two sisters, Darlene Collins and her husband, David, and Irene Bottomly, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In addition to her husband and parents, four siblings predeceased Mrs Nimer.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 2, at 10 am, in St Paulâs Episcopal Church, 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield. Burial will follow in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Calling hours were scheduled at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, Thursday, October 1, from 5 to 8 pm.
