Newtown Pets To Be Featured In âSpiderâ Magazine
Two furry Newtown residents will be the subject of a childrenâs story to be published in the November/December 2009 issue of Spider Magazine, published by the Cricket Magazine Group of Carus Publishing, Peterborough N.H.
The upcoming story was written by Sandy Hook resident C. Bailey Sims, who recently won the statewide Tassy Walden Award for New Voices in Childrenâs Literature sponsored by the Shoreline Arts Alliance. Well-known childrenâs book illustrator Blanche L. Sims, also of Sandy Hook, did the illustrations.
The story, called âBoo Boo & Buddy,â is about their pets, a Great Pyrenees named Buddy, and a little black cat called Boo Boo.
In the story, Boo Boo, a horribly spoiled cat, adjusts to a newcomer in the home, a Great Pyrenees puppy. As the dog grows to his giant size of 125 pounds, he still thinks of Boo Boo as the mean monster, but that doesnât stop him from protecting her from a hungry coyote.
