Mike Kerler, owner of Sandy Hook Wine & Liquors, will present the wines at this yearâs tasting, and a minimum of $1 per each bottle sold will be donated to the NSA. Mr Kerler will feature a selection of largely California wines, as well as several from Italy and some sparkling wines and champagne from France, including:
Lust Zinfandel, a single vineyard, Old Vine Zinfandel from Michael David wine makers (known for such wines as Windmill Wines and 7 Heavenly Chardonnay). This limited-edition wine received 92 Points from Wine Spectator.
Nth Degree Cabernet. Another limited-edition (only 600 cases), Nth was produced by Karl Wente, owner of Wente Vineyards, Americaâs oldest family-owned vineyard.
Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel, rated one of the top ten wines in the world last year by Wine Spectator, which also gave it a 93 point rating in 2007 and 2008.
Duval-Leroy French champagne. This special bubbly has been ranked in the top 100 wines in the world for the past three years (a rare accomplishment), and has received ratings from 91 points to 93 points.
The event will also feature both live and silent auction items â from an African safari and weekend getaways to baskets of wine, books, gift certificates, tailgate party supplies, and much more. Additionally, on exhibit in the Stone Barn will be paintings by artist Tarol Samuelson, who will donate 20 percent of her sales that evening to the NSA.
Hors dâoeuvres will be prepared and served by talented students from Newtown High Schoolâs advanced culinary program.
Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased at Peopleâs United Bank branches in Newtown or at Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor. For directions to Sticks and Stones Farm, 101 Huntingtown Road, go to www.sticksandstonesfarm.com. For more information, contact Carol Garbarino at 426-7713.
