Beloved Father
Frank Machado, 86, of Seymour died September 27, in his home. Born July 6, 1923 in Fairhaven Mass., he was the son of Mary Melo Machado and Francisco Leite.
Mr Machado is survived by his two daughters, Dr Ana Paula Machado and husband, Daniel Rovelli, of Newtown and Isabel Maloney and husband, Robert, of Bethel; five grandchildren; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Albertina (Raposo) Machado, and his son, Frankie Machado.
His parents moved their family to Lomba do Sao Miguel, Acores, when he was 9 years old. The war called him back to the United States to serve at 18. He served at the Navy Supply Depot in Newport, R.I., for most of the war.
He worked for the Silliman Company, later acquired by O&G Industries, for more than 35 years.
Mr Machado was an avid gardener, and an avid baseball fan. His love of the Boston Red Sox was cultivated in his weekend trips to Fenway Park from Newport during the war.
He was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Bridgeport, where he was one of the founding families to establish a Portuguese parish in Bridgeport.
 His love of his family expressed in the pride of his daughters and grandchildren and their accomplishments, was known and felt by all who knew him.
 Funeral services were held September 30. Interment was in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
