Local Trout Expert Will Visit Bethel Library
BETHEL â On Tuesday, October 17, from 7:30 to 9 pm, James Prosek will appear at Bethel Public Library as part of its Authors Talk series. The title of his discussion and slide show will be âFishing on the 41st Latitude,â which also happens to be the subject of his next book. Mr Prosekâs new book, and his program in Bethel, will detail his angling experiences in more exotic places like Turkey, as well as in Fairfield County. Accepting questions on fishing, traveling, and the writing life, he will sign copies of his most recent book, Early Love and Brook Trout, published in July by Lyons Press.
Mr Prosek, a native of Easton and just 25 years old, has already enjoyed a distinguished career, both as a writer and illustrator. Originally published when he was an undergraduate at Yale, his previous books include Trout: An Illustrated History  and The Compleat Angler. The books are illustrated with the authorâs own watercolors and his unique blend of word and picture has prompted The New York Times to label him âthe Audubon of the fishing worldâ and Tom Brokaw to announce âJames Prosek is a national treasure.â
The event will take place in the circulation room of the library, at 189 Greenwood Avenue. Registration is suggested.
All programs sponsored by the Bethel Public Library are free, open to the public, and meet accessibility requirements for the disabled. Those needing special accommodations should contact the library as soon as possible to make arrangements. Call 794-8756.
