Andrew R. Carroll
Andrew R. Carroll, 69, of Newtown, died surrounded by family on Sunday, September 29, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
He was born in Bridgeport on October 27, 1954, a son of Robert J. and Jeanne (Nolan) Carroll.
Andy was a friendly face to everyone he met. He was a kindhearted man, who was always trying to make life easier for someone no matter how big or small. He was often the first person his family or friends would call with a car-related question. Andy loved his family deeply and was proud of the way they all come together and support each other. His infectious sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him.
Andy was a School Bus Owner-Operator in Newtown for many years. Some will remember his racing stripes on school bus number 12. Andy loved growing up and being a part of the Newtown community. However, what he loved most of all, were his children. He was extremely proud of them and will be greatly missed by all.
Andy leaves behind his three daughters, Erica (Thomas) Washington, Rebecca (Brian) Carroll and Shannon Carroll. He also leaves behind a son, Andrew S. Carroll; three grandchildren, Isabel, Colin and Kieran; his twin brother, Philip (Robin) Carroll; four additional brothers, Patrick (Susan) Carroll, Charles (Charlotte) Carroll, Arthur Carroll, Joseph (Elizabeth) Carroll; five sisters, Catherine (Daniel) Boudreau, Joanne (Richard) Chontos, Mary (Craig) Wilgus, Margaret (Donna) Carroll, Michele (Jean-Ives) DeLisle; and many very dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
Andy was predeceased by his wife, Paula S. Carroll; and two brothers, Paul Carroll and Robert Carroll.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southbury Food Bank.
Following cremation, per Andy’s request, his family will host an ice cream social celebration of life. It will be held at Phil & Robin Carroll’s home on Saturday, October 5, at 2 pm.
