SCAN Program Planned: Watercolor Flowers With Rosiello
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host Liz Rosiello on Wednesday, October 11, at 7:30 pm, in the lower program room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).
Rosiello will demonstrate how to paint a flower using watercolors.
The demonstration is open to the public, and admission is free.
Rosiello’s passion for art grew out of being raised in an artistic household. Her parents were both professional artists, her father a scientific illustrator for the Museum of Natural History and her mother a watercolor artist and greeting card designer.
Watching her parents follow their hearts influenced her to find the same passion and career choice. She attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City, graduating with both BFA and Art Education degrees. Her skills include drawing, painting, etching, silk screening and fabric arts, as well as art education.
Throughout the years, Rosiello has always created art and loved learning new skills, techniques, and crafts. In her years of starting a family, she became a self-taught quilter, both selling and exhibiting her quilts, which led to her 20 plus years as a quilt instructor for many local quilt shops.
A woman of a truly entrepreneurial spirit, Rosiello also created many different businesses, growing her knowledge and skills in leadership and business ownership. To list a few, Rosiello founded a co-op art gallery in Norwalk, owned a picture framing business specializing in handling antique Asian art and fabrics, and became a sales director leading over 30 women in growing their small business.
With the onset of the 2020 pandemic, Rosiello reevaluated and returned to her roots in becoming a full-time artist and developing a creative career and art business. Captivated by the intrinsic beauty of nature and inspired by the colors, textures, shapes and nuances of the natural world, she recently began celebrating this through her botanical floral watercolors and impressionistic landscapes.
Rosiello’s work has been in numerous art shows and galleries including The Merwinsville Hotel Restoration in Gaylordsville; The Voice of Art in Litchfield; Kent Art Association’s August Light Show 2023; The Cultural Arts Alliance of Western CT Quilt Show; and “Celebrating Local Quilters” at Brookfield Library.
Reservations are not required for this event, but additional information may be available at SCANart.org.
