To the Editor:

The Newtown Lions Club would like to thank our community for supporting our Playground Upgrade Tag Sale and Treasure Hunt last Saturday.

We had a fantastic day and are now much closer to reaching our goal of installing wheelchair accessible playground equipment in the Dickinson Park playground. We hope to be able to break ground this year so kids of all abilities will be able to play together on the new equipment early next spring.

Our wonderful town will be even better when this project is completed.

Special thanks to Laura Gardner, the owner of Chintz ‘n Prints on South Main Street, for letting us use her parking area for the tag sale. Thank you also to the amazing girls in Daisy Scout Troop 51162 and Girl Scout Junior Troop 50078 who ran a bake sale to benefit the playground project concurrent with the tag sale.

They raised $353 for us and charmed everyone there.
