Clare Cosgrove
Clare (Franklin) Cosgrove, 95, of Newtown, died September 28, at Pope John Paul II Care and Rehabilitation Center, Danbury. She was born in Cloonalaghan-Lacken, Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland, February 17, 1918, the daughter of Catherine (Collins) and Martin Franklin. She was the wife of the late Michael Cosgrove.
Mrs Cosgrove was extremely creative and excelled in the making of lace, crochet, and embroidery. She was a very talented artist and enjoyed painting landscapes, seascapes, and still life.
Her sons Michael Cosgrove of Newtown and John Cosgrove of County Mayo, Ireland; daughter Terry Lavin of County Mayo, Ireland; brother John Franklin; sisters, Kathleen (Kelly) and Maude McHale; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several in-laws, nephews, and nieces survive Mrs Cosgrove.
Friends may call into the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Tuesday, October 1, from 5 till 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, Wednesday, October 2, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
