Two Accidents
Police report that two accidents involving a total of four vehicles occurred at an intersection of Toddy Hill Road and Clearview Drive about 2:15 pm on September 20.
Neither of the two crashes involved injuries.
Police said that motorist Kevin Phillips, 17, of 11 Fawnwood Road, who was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry sedan southward on Toddy Hill Road, slowed in order to make a right turn onto Clearview Drive and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Austin Ekstrom, 17, of 81 Marlin Road, who was driving a 2000 Honda Accord sedan.
Soon thereafter, motorist Mario Pizighelli, 17, of 29 Botsford Hill Road, who was driving a 1992 BMW 735-I sedan southward on Toddy Hill Road, stopped for the two vehicles in front of him that had been involved in the collision, after which motorist Ricardo Rojas, 17, of 49 Riverside Road, who was driving a 2001 Honda Accord coupe southward, struck the rear end of the BMW, police said.
Police report they issued both Eckstrom and Rojas infractions for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
NHS Lot
Police report that on the morning of September 19, after investigating a minor motor vehicle accident that had occurred in the Newtown High School parking lot at 12 Berkshire Road, they issued motorist Rachel Ann Faust, 34, of 19 South Main Street a violation for driving with a suspended license. Police released Faust on a written promise to appear on September 29 in Danbury Superior Court.
Brushy Hill Crash
A two-car accident occurred on a curve in the road near 106 Brushy Hill Road about 2:30 pm on September 22.
Motorist Eric Kurtz, 18, of 8 Diamond Drive was driving a 2006 Ford Focus sedan southward, as motorist Joseph Defeo, 54, of 6 Golden Pond Road was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu sedan northward, police report.
Kurtz applied the brakes on the Ford, but it slid across the roadâs center line, resulting in a collision with the Chevrolet, police said.
Defeo reported shoulder pain, police said. Kurtz received an infraction for failure to keep to the right on a curve, police said.
Sandy Hook Center
Motorist Misti Popp, 40, of Hebron was driving a 2002 Ford station wagon eastward near 94 Church Hill Road about 5:15 pm on September 23, and then slowed for traffic conditions, after which the Ford was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Terry Pardue, 53, of 11 Dayton Street, who was driving a 1996 Mazda coupe, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Pardue a written warning for following too closely.
Volkswagen
Motorist William Gallo, Jr, 18, of 27 Maltbie Road, who was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta sedan southward on Glen Road and approaching Pine Street at about 7:20 pm September 23, attempted to make a left turn onto Pine Street, but the Volkswagen went into a skid and struck some curbing, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said Gallo received an infraction for making a restricted turn.

NPD Parking Lot
Motorist Lisa Moran, 17, of Danbury, who was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla sedan southward on Main Street about 9:40 pm on September 23, attempted to make a right turn into the parking lot at the police station at 3 Main Street, but drove off the pavement and struck a bush, police said.
Moran was not injured. Police said they verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Sandy Hook Intersection
Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Pearl Street at about 4 pm on September 23.
Police said motorist Rosemary Zanfini, 80, of 8 Stone Gate Drive , who was driving a 2007 Honda sedan, attempted to make a left turn from Washington Avenue onto Pearl Street, but drove into the path of approaching motorist Dana Greenfield, 17, of 24 Marlin Road, who was driving a 2008 Subaru sedan on Washington Avenue, resulting in a collision.
There were no injuries. Zanfini received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.
House Burglary
Police said that late on the morning of September 24, they received a report that a burglary had occurred at a house on Homer Clark Lane, which is a dead-end street off Berkshire Road in Sandy Hook.
That incident had occurred sometime during the past two months, police said. Someone allegedly took three pieces of jewelry from the premises, police said. Police listed no value for the property loss.
Police said the premises showed no signs of forced entry. Also, the person/persons who stole the jewelry had no contact with the residents of the property, police said.

Interstate Accident
State police report a two-car accident on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, about 12:36 pm on September 25.
In that incident, motorist Sada Marshall, 33, of New Haven, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala in the left lane of two lanes, moved into the right lane and collided with a 2008 Mercury Milan driven by motorist Debra McLaughlin, 51, of Middlebury, state police said.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported McLaughlin to Danbury Hospital to be checked for pain, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.
Highway Crash
About 1:43 pm on September 25, a two-vehicle accident took place on eastbound Interstate 84, about 1,500 feet west of Exit 10.
Motorist Lisa Curley, 38, of Pottstown, Penn., who was driving a 2010 Chevrolet, slowed due to traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Patricia Phelan, 57, of West Hartford, who was driving a 2010 Nissan, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said that Phelan was following too closely.
I-84 Collision
State police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 84, east of the Exit 9 off-ramp, about 2:15 pm on September 25.
In that incident, motorist Jason Edwards, 31, of Otisfield, Maine, who was driving a 2011 Dodge, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by motorist Michael Laurentus, 51, of Danbury, who was driving a 2003 Hyundai, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Ford Vs Chevy
At about 2 pm on September 24, motorist Thomas Evans, 53, of Bloomingburg, N.Y., who was driving a 2007 Ford, struck the rear end of a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Joanne Benson, 42, of Monroe, on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, state police report.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Nissan Into Rails
Motorist Vaisakh Satheesh, 24, of New Britain, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Altima westward on Interstate 84, about 300 feet east of Exit 10, at about 4:30 pm on September 22, lost control of the auto and collided with some guardrailing on the median, state police said.
Satheesh was not injured. State police said they issued an infraction to Satheesh for failure to maintain the proper lane and for driving without a license.
Two Warrants
Police said they arrested two men this week on assault charges in connection with a violent incident that occurred in July.
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, David DeAngelis, 25, of Waterbury went to the police station on the afternoon of September 26, and was charged with second-degree assault and with conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, police said.
Also, police said that on September 27, they arrested Samuel Calkins, 23, of Southbury on a warrant, charging him with second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, and with first-degree unlawful restraint.Â
The charges against the two men stem from a physical dispute which they had with an unidentified victim on July 24.
Police received a complaint about the incident on July 30, after which they investigated and sought court warrants for the arrests.
Second-degree assault and first-degree unlawful restraint are felonies.
After processing, police released DeAngelis on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on October 12. Calkins was released on a written promise to appear in court on October 14.
Sideswipe
Police report a two-car sideswipe accident which occurred on South Main Street near its intersection with Ethan Allen Road about 12:40 pm on September 23.
Police said motorist Michael Yacovelli, 32, of Bridgeport was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant sedan southward on South Main Street behind southbound motorist Timothy Duhancik, 54, of 55 Sugar Street, who was driving a 2005 Volvo S-60 sedan.
The Mitsubishi then attempted to pass the Volvo on the right, but sideswiped the Volvo, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Yacovelli an infraction for passing on the right and for making a restricted turn.
Three Vehicles
A three-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Schoolhouse Hill Road about 11 am on September 23.
Police said motorist Stephanie Maker, 44, of 24 Park Lane, who was driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade SUV, was waiting at a stop sign on Schoolhouse Hill Road at its intersection with Main Street.
At that time, motorist Dolores Allen, 79, of 70 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 1993 Nissan coupe, was waiting on southbound Main Street to make to make a left turn onto Schoolhouse Hill Road, police said.
Also at that time, motorist Mary Tietjen, 61, of 65 Boggs Hill Road, who was driving a 2008 GMC Yukon SUV, was traveling northward on Main Street, police said.
The Nissan then attempted to make the left turn, but collided with the approaching GMC, after which the Nissan spun around and struck the Cadillac, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Nissan passenger Gabriella Allen, 23, of 1 Taunton Lake Road to Danbury Hospital to be checked for injuries, police said.
Police said they issued Dolores Allen an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
Items Stolen
Police said this week that sometime during the week preceding September 17, someone stole a large meat smoker, several statues, and a large number of ornamental white quartz rocks from the backyard of a residential property on Philo Curtis Road, near its intersection with Quail Hollow Lane.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of who took the items to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Andrew Cabral, 23, of 168 Huntingtown Road turned himself in at the police station on September 27 and was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing, police report.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in the Hundred Acres Road area on August 2. Cabral was released on $100 bail for an October 12 court appearance.
Church Hill Road
Police report a two-vehicle accent near 62 Church Hill Road at about 4 pm on September 27.
The incident involved a collision between a 2005 Saab 9-5 sedan driven by Jeffrey Stewart, 39, of Naugatuck, and a 2006 Toyota Matrix hatchback driven by Kathryn Spallone, 52, of Oakville, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Stewart for failure to grant the right of way.
Rear-Ender
Police report a two-vehicle accident on southbound South Main Street at its northern intersection with Peckâs Lane about 5:50 pm on September 27.
Motorist Glenya Araujo, 24, of New Milford, who was driving a 2006 Toyota Highlander SUV southward on South Main Street, stopped for a noncontact vehicle up ahead which was making a left turn onto Peckâs Lane, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by southbound motorist Jessica Fitch, 26, of Hyde Park, N.Y., who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, police said.
There were no injuries. Fitch received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police report.
Warrant
Waterbury probation officials notified Newtown police on September 28 that Aimee Ottaviano, 25, of Southbury was in custody, after which Newtown police transported Ottaviano to Newtown where they charged her on a warrant with sixth-degree larceny, Newtown police said.
The arrest stems from an incident that was reported to Newtown police on June 10.
Newtown police released Ottaviano on a written promise to appear on September 29 in Danbury Superior Court.
Newtown police said they released Ottaviano to Bethel police, who also held a warrant for her.
Dumping
Police received a complaint about 10 am on September 28 concerning some illegal dumping that had occurred on the eastbound shoulder of Hundred Acres Road, near Hattertown Road.
The items dumped included several black plastic bags containing roofing materials, pieces of deck railing, and pieces of white vinyl siding.

South Main Street
Police report a two-vehicle accident on southbound South Main Street, near its northern intersection with Peckâs Lane, about 1:45 pm on September 28.
Southbound motorist Thomas Murphy, 64, of Milford, who was driving a 2011 Subaru Outback station wagon, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Subaru was struck from behind by southbound motorist Peter Giuffre, 50, of New Milford, who was driving a 1996 Dodge caravan minivan, police said.
There were no injuries. Giuffre received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police report. Murphy received a misdemeanor summons for failure to have automotive insurance, police said.
