To the Editor:
Thank you Jim Gaston for running for the Board of Selectmen this year! He is an exceptional choice. He has not only the experience, 10 years on the Board of Finance earning a reputation of balance for fiscal responsibility and town and education needs, five years as warden (executive officer) of the borough with record low mill rates, and service on hosts of other school and community boards, but he will help Newtown return to reason.
Jim Gaston is a problem solver, whether involving matters of creating Historic Districts, or sewer lines that would destroy historic sugar maple Main Street tree lines, or the creation of the Health District, fighting United Water to save the Pootatuck and our âpristine early American eleganceâ of Main Street (with the First Selectman Pat Llodra), as a lawyer, he knows how to grasp complex issues, work them through amiably and collegiately, without partisan politics.
I also know Jim Gaston believes in preserving our hallmark entities that make Newtown special. He believes in constructive policies, not destructive policies. In short, Jim Gaston is a proven doer! So, letâs âReturn to Reason,â listen to each other and work together. Letâs get Newtown moving forward. Letâs elect Jim Gaston to the Board of Selectmen.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Anna Wiedemann
