Revised Book Offers Global View of Ghost Phenomenon

In 2004, Jeff Belanger’s book publishing career began with The World’s Most Haunted Places. Since then, the paranormal researcher, lecturer, and talk show host, who grew up in Newtown, has gone on to produce more than a dozen books that have been published in six languages, and has become one of the world’s foremost authorities on the unexplained.

Now in its second edition, Mr Belanger revisits some of the most famous haunts with updates, new first-hand accounts, information, and commentary in The World’s Most Haunted Places, Revised Edition, including new chapters and new locations.

The World’s Most Haunted Places, Revised Edition offers a global view of the ghost phenomenon. It is a world tour of historic locations and ghostly experiences. Locations covered include Muncaster Castle in England, Monte Cristo Homestead in Australia, Ballygally Castle in Ireland, Suicide Forest in Japan, Poveglia Island in Italy, the White House in Washington D.C., the Whaley House in California, Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Kentucky, and many others.

“Ghost encounters and legends are deeply personal,” said Mr Belanger. “Communities embrace their local haunts and only open up about them with those they trust. By studying the history and folklore of some of our most treasured historical places, we gain insight into who these ghosts may have been in life, and why they may still be hanging around. It’s important that we listen to the history, the witnesses, and even the ghosts.”

Mr Belanger is also the host of the cable/Web talk show, 30 Odd Minutes, has written for newspapers, and is the series writer and researcher for Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel. He has been a guest on more than 200 radio and television programs.

The World’s Most Haunted Places, Revised Edition: From the Secret Files of Ghostvillage.com (ISBN: 1-60163-193-6, pages: 288, price: $15.99) was published by New Page Books (a subsidiary of Career Press) in September. The book is available at online and traditional booksellers.
