Medicare Enrollment Period
Rapidly Approaching
With this yearâs Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) â October 15 to December 7 â rapidly approaching, senior citizens will once again have to go through the process of comparing Medicare Part D (prescription) plans and choosing the plan that best fits their needs for 2012.
âIt is very important that you analyze your current planâs benefits for the upcoming year,â says Ann Piccini, director of Newtownâs Department of Social Services. âFirst thing you need to do is check to see if your prescription drugs will be covered. You must also check the plan premium and drug co-pays.
âYour current plan will send you an Annual Notice of Change describing the changes your plan will have for 2012. It is very important to review the changes,â she continued. âRemember, after December 7, you will not be able to change Part D plans for the upcoming year.â
Residents who need additional assistance are encouraged to call Newtown Social Services at 203-270-4330.
