Masonicare Hosting Fall Series ‘Professionals Helping Seniors’

A series of free educational workshops for the community highlighting a host of legal and other topics of importance to seniors, adult children, caregivers, and family members, will be held at Masonicare at Newtown during October and November.

The workshops will be held on Thursday evenings from 5 to 7:30 in the Lodge Room. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions of the experts and enjoy a complimentary light dinner.

The Thursday workshop dates and topics to be discussed in October are as follows:

October 6: Are you caring for a senior? The Aging Process and things you need to know.

October 13: Hospice and end-of-life issues. Make legal decisions before a crisis occurs.

October 20: An overview of Medicare — Everything you need to know to make it “user friendly.”

October 27: Seniors and tax issues — Dispelling common myths

Anyone can choose to attend any or all of the educational workshops that deal with topics of importance.

The workshops will be conducted by members of the Western Connecticut Seniors Alliance, a nationally recognized group of highly skilled and trustworthy professionals who specialize in providing expertise to seniors and their families, such as accountants and tax planners, reverse mortgage specialists, financial planners, attorneys, insurance and real estate specialists and more.

There is no fee for the series, but seating is limited. Anyone wishing to participate should call the Masonicare HelpLine at 888-679-9997 by Monday, October 3, to reserve a space.

Masonicare at Newtown, an affiliate of Masonicare, is at 139 Toddy Hill Road. For directions visit www.masonicare.org.
