Family Dinner/Fun Night
Family Dinner/Fun Night
The Newtown Parent Connection, Inc, and the Newtown Prevention Council sponsored a Family Dinner/Fun Night event on Friday, September 23, at Reed Intermediate School to allow parents and children to have an evening out together.
The event was held in conjunction with National Family, Day which was observed on September 26.
On the menu were pasta and meatballs, salad, bread, and ice cream sundaes.
Entertainment included music, games, and face painting.
The sponsoring groups believe that families eating dinner together nightly opens lines of communication between parents and children.   Â
The Newtown Parent Connection urges that parents and children make dinnertime a special time during which the focus is on family member interaction, not on food. The group urges that televisions and telephones be turned off during dinnertime to allow for good familial interaction.
The group urges that dinnertime be a positive time during which criticism and arguments are avoided.
Additionally, the Newtown Parent Connection urges that families plan to have regular family time together for at least a couple of nights a week.
