'The Body Eclectic' Still On View At Easton Public Library
âThe Body Eclecticâ Still On View At Easton Public Library
EASTON â Lisa P. Oswald of Monroe is exhibiting a collection of her mixed media monotypes in a show entitled âThe Body Eclecticâ at Easton Public Library through October 18.
Ms Oswaldâs art uses texture and color to present abstractions of the figure. Many of the images in the exhibit were created in Santa Fe, N.M., and Florence, Italy during summer study programs in printmaking, and reflect the intense beauty, color and inspiration derived from these locales. Her most recent work displays a decidedly modern twist on the figure.
Ms Oswaldâs work â highly abstracted, somewhat ambiguous and often provocative â consistently blurs the line between how people see themselves versus the way others see them.
Ms Oswaldâs work was featured recently in exhibitions at Taller Boricua Gallery in New York City, Gallery of Contemporary Art at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, and City Lights Gallery in Bridgeport.
She learned printmaking at the Contemporary Artists Center in North Adams, Mass., and furthered her studies at The Creative Arts Workshop and Center For Contemporary Printmaking in Connecticut, and the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy.
She traveled to Santa Fe this summer to study in an intensive printmaking program at the Institute of American Indian Arts.
Ms Oswald is a member of the Monotype Guild of New England, Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Westport Arts Center and Womenâs Caucus For Art. When she is not working full-time at priceline.com in Norwalk, or printing, she is an active volunteer for the Connecticut Zoological Society and American Red Cross.
