Tax Counseling For The Elderly

The Connecticut AARP Tax-Aide Tax Counseling For The Elderly program is actively seeking volunteers who want to be part of a team that provides one-on-one help in the preparation of income tax returns. Volunteers of all ages and background are welcome.

Tax Counseling For The Elderly is a free, confidential service run by volunteers who prepare federal and state tax returns. The service is offered at more than 100 sites in Connecticut to middle-and-low income people of all ages with special attention to those 60 and older.

Volunteers do not need to be an AARP member nor retired. Training is done by the Internal Revenue Service in conjunction with Tax-Aide to process tax returns electronically. Training starts in November for new volunteers. All Tax-Aide volunteers are required to pass an annual IRS examination to become certified.

Email AARP Tax-Aide at ctvoltaxaide@juno.com to learn more about becoming a member of the team of volunteers. Provide your name, address, and telephone number.
