Avid Fisherman and Hunter; Carpenter

Richard P. Melycher, Sr, 63, of Danbury, formerly of Newtown, died September 20 at Danbury Health Care.

He is survived by his son, Richard P. Melycher Jr, and daughter, Jacqueline Theresa Melycher of Newtown; his mother, Mary Melycher; and a sister, Karen Weiss of Sandy Hook. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Mr Melycher was born September 5, 1942, in Danbury, the son of Anthony and Mary (Rzchowski) Melycher. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the New England Archers Club and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also served in the US Marine Corps.

Cremation services will be held in private.
