Newquist’s Images Of New York At Westport Gallery

WESTPORT — For the month of October, Picture This of Westport will feature New York cityscapes by Ruth Newquist and Anthony Springer. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, October 1, from 5 to 8 pm.

Mrs Newquist resides in Newtown, however, her favorite subject matter is not the pastoral countryside but the urban landscape. The artist will present both watercolor and oil, capturing the colorful vitality of Manhattan. A contemporary realist, Mrs Newquist possesses a thorough knowledge of skilled drawing techniques, composition and color.

Mr Springer, a native New Yorker who died in 1995, represents the soulful and moody streets of the Lower West Side with a nod to the Ashcan style.

The show will run from Saturday, October 1, through Saturday, November 12.
