Kathleen Margaret Taylor and Michael Lennon Mermin
Kathleen Margaret Taylor, Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of Margaret and Richard Taylor of Sandy Hook, and Michael Lennon Mermin, Brooklyn, son of Daniel Mermin of Asheville, N.C., and Maggie Mermin of Atlanta, were joined in marriage July 16 at the Full Moon Inn in Oliverea, N.Y. The wedding took place in the meadow under the maple tree by Esopus Creek.
Representatives of the congregation, Jeffrey Fry, Margaret Bisceglie, Michael Mermin and Kate Taylor welcomed guests, with the Invocation offered by Bruce Pemberton and Kiddush by Jeffery Fry.
The bride, who is keeping her name, wore a dress of princess seam silk shantung with pink and ivory silk roses on the skirt. She carried a bouquet made up of a tight cluster of pink and red roses, pink hydrangeas and ferns. She was given in marriage by her parents.
Maid of honor was Laurel Dugan of Brooklyn; Sophie Ernst of Astoria, N.Y., served as matron of honor. Ms Duganâs dress was a strapless dark pink empire gown with a satin sash. Ms Ernst wore a light pink linen wrap-dress. Both attendants carried bouquets of blue hydrangea and yellow roses.
Bridesmaids were Erin Crawley-Woods, Martinsburg, W.Va.; Nicole Horrigan, Westport; and Courtney Krantz and Elsie Hsieh of New York City. Ms Crawley-Woods and Ms Krantz wore light pink linen wrap-dresses while Ms Horrigan and Ms Hsieh wore strapless dark pink dresses. Their bouquets were blue hydrangeas and yellow roses.
Ten flower girls dressed in purple dresses made in Uganda attended the bride, as well.
Best men were David Mermin of Berkeley, Calif., and Chris Taylor of Portland, Ore.
Joe Neisser, Grinnell, Iowa; Prentiss and Damon Pemberton, Eagle River, Alaska; Alex Sterling, and Sev Williams of Oakland, Calif.; and Joe Ramsey, Philadelphia, served as groomsmen.
Samantha Bunnell, Plainfield, Mass.; Tom Eaton and David Griffin of Brooklyn; and Joe Ramsey, Philadelphia, were the chuppah holders.
A reception and dinner under a tent at Full Moon Inn followed the ceremony, with contra dancing on the lawn and late-night performances in the barn.
Ms Taylor is a 1994 graduate of Newtown High School and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y. She is a modern dancer with Nancy Meehan Dance Company.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Paideia School in Atlanta. He received his bachelor of arts from Colorado College and his master of social work degree from New York University. Mr Mermin is a visions social worker and has a private clinical practice.
The couple will travel to Uganda, South Africa, and Lesotho for their wedding trip. They will make their home in Brooklyn when they return in October.
