Caring For Your Health

To the Editor:

The 12th Annual Great American Health and Public Safety Fair was an enormous success thanks to the efforts of many people and organizations, especially including The Newtown Bee. The thanks and gratitude of the committee for our medical volunteers and our many other volunteers is just awesome.

The Newtown VNA has recently adopted a logo saying, “We Care For Your Health” and that is exactly what the Health Fair was saying to our Newtown community. Because we care for your health, the Health Fair Committee worked hard and long to bring to the middle school last Saturday dozens of health care professionals from Danbury Hospital, Newtown, and the surrounding areas to provide screening, testing, medical advice, health tips, treatments, and to furnish as much free health information and advice under one roof as possible so that Newtown residents had only to make one stop to access this great resource.

We may well be the only town in Connecticut that has been able to provide for its residents such a wide array of medical health and safety professionals at one time under one roof — including dentists, physicians, pediatricians, surgeons, radiologists, optometrists, hearing specialists, nurses, message therapists, doulas, chiropractors, as well as public safety professionals — police, fire, ambulance, and water rescue personnel all of whom came and volunteered their services and professional skills for the benefit of the citizens of our community.

The Newtown Chamber of Commerce Mountain Bike Drawing and Castle Hill Farm and Paproski’s Mini Dairy Farm are always a special treat. And last but not least, we are very grateful to the many Newtown restaurants who graciously provided lunch to our many exhibitors — it was all the healthiest of pizza.

Thank you for participating and attending,

Mae S Schmidle, Dr Della Schmid, Donna
