Girls’ Volleyball Team Wins Matches

Newtown High School’s girls’ volleyball team bounced back from a 3-1 loss at Joel Barlow on September 20 with a pair of wins, defeating host Fairfield Ludlowe 3-0 the next day and Bunnell of Stratford 3-1 at home on September 26.

In the Barlow match, the Falcons prevailed 25-18, 25-18, 16-25, 25-15. Amaro Beard-Galati had 11 kills; Gabby Soltis logged five kills and 39 assists; Gianna Galassi recorded ten kills and six digs; and Zosia Teraszkiewicz compiled seven kills and 14 digs.

The Nighthawks beat Ludlowe by scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-16. Newtown registered 11 aces led by Galassi’s four and two apiece from Beard-Galati, Soltis, and Liz Anesi. Teraszkiewicz added an ace to go along with 14 kills and four digs. Beard-Galati had eight kills; Galassi had six kills and four digs; Emily Daoust had six digs; and Soltis recorded 29 assists.

The Hawks bested Bunnell 25-9, 25-10, 23-25, 25-13. Newtown racked up 20 aces; Galassi had seven, Teraszkiewicz five, and Daoust three. Beard-Galati had nine kills; Teraszkiewicz recorded eight kills; Daoust had six digs; Galassi had five kills and a trio of digs; Sara Heinen logged four kills; Soltis registered 29 assists; and Ava Lombardo added nine assists.
