Tucker the therapy dog visited the C.H. Booth Library on Thursday, September 21, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, to listen to children read stories to him.

Independent readers were invited to pick out their favorite animal-themed books (a favorite genre of Tucker's), and have a 15-minute session reading to him out loud.

Tucker's owner and proud "mom," Jane Hellman, is a 29-year Newtown resident, who rescued Tucker when he was very sick.

Today, Tucker is 4½ years old and as healthy as can be. He enjoys being a reading buddy for children like sisters Eleanor Smith, 6, and Claire Smith, 8.

Tucker was scheduled to be back at the library on September 28, October 5, and October 12 to listen to more children read to him.

Those interested in signing up for a 15-minute time slot can register online at chboothlibrary.org.
