To the Editor:

I was thrilled over the summer when I learned Jordana Bloom was running for another term on the Legislative Council representing District 2. Our local government will have many new faces representing us no matter how the election breaks in November, and we need people with Jordana’s vast experience who understand how our budget and CIP are built, and what questions to ask.

It is vital that we elect Jordana. She previously has served two terms on the Council, so she has the knowledge to hit the ground running. As a former business owner in Connecticut for a half-dozen years, she knows the importance of scrutinizing how every dollar is spent. She is a collaborator, a supporter of strong schools, and in the end just wants to make Newtown better through her service.

She takes pride in volunteering in our community. You’ll always see her around the Arts Festival and at Parks and Recreation events, and she enjoyed helping in her children’s classrooms when they attended Newtown Public Schools. These days you’ll see her at the C.H. Booth Library, where she works as strategic project manager, a job for which she takes tremendous pride in the heart of a community which she loves.

I urge District 2 voters to elect Jordana to serve again on the Council. She will bring energy, creative ideas, a commitment to serve, and a passion for helping others to this important role. Her experience is unmatched; we will need that as we elect new leadership in our government.

I write this letter as a personal endorsement and not in my role as a member of the Legislative Council or of the Borough of Newtown Board of Burgesses.

Respectfully,

Chris Gardner

Newtown
