To the Editor:

To My Neighbors in Newtown — I have been a resident of Newtown since 1995, having moved here with my wife Ann and our children Alex (Chuck) and Abbey. We had moved here due to the idyllic beauty and charm of Newtown and the top-class educational system.

Our son, Alex (Chuck as he was known to his friends and faculty) was born with a disability which required special attention. Looking to buy our first home, as we searched, we interviewed each district to understand what services they would provide for our son and Newtown was by far head and shoulders above every other town. We were never disappointed and will always be grateful.

The kindness this town has shown to me and my family has been overwhelming and now I would like to give back by becoming a public servant. It is for this reason I have decided to run for the Legislative Council representing District 3.

I, like many residents, have felt the recent pinch of higher food and energy costs and like many must be more mindful of our expenses. If elected as a member of the Newtown Legislative Council I will act as a fiscally responsible steward of our tax dollars. I will ensure that our taxes go towards necessary services that keep our town infrastructure safe, residents protected, and children well educated. This does not mean cutting corners or valued services, but rather delivering quality services by being cost effective and efficient in our spending so as not to further increase the tax burden on the people of Newtown.

Over the past 35-years working in Supply Chain Operations, my role was to secure and negotiate contracting services such as domestic transportation, ocean freight and manufacturing sourcing. Working within budgetary constraints, I had to procure these services taking into consideration quality and cost. I believe I can provide that same service to Newtown.

I would be honored to represent you on the Legislative Council in District 3 and respectfully ask for your vote along with my fellow District 3 candidates Tom Long and Ben Ruben.
