‘Unity & Diversity’ Programs Preview

Unity and Diversity, a cable television program that can be seen by residents in the greater Newtown area, is an educational experience in learning about one’s neighbors, especially through a clearer understanding of their religious heritage, spiritual values, and human culture.

The program features interviews with pastors, rabbis, imams, and other spiritual leaders of a variety of local faith communities. Unity and Diversity can be viewed at noon on Mondays, and at 5:30 pm on Wednesdays, throughout the 14 towns of the Charter Communications viewing area.

The program scheduled for October 1 and 3 will feature the Reverends Michael and Ann Coburn, former rectors, St James Episcopal Church in Danbury.

Other upcoming programs and their featured subjects and/or interviews include: October 8 and 10, Rabbi Jon Haddon, Rabbi Emeritus, Temple Beth Shearrel, Ridgefield; October 15 and 17, “The Role of Buddhism in the Local Community,” with Reverend Ocean of Wisdom; October 22 and 29, the Bahai Community of Newtown; October 29 and 31, Pastor Allen German, St Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury; November 5 and 7, “The Congregational Church: Its History and Daily Practice of Prayer and Action”; November 12 and 14, the Reverend Timothy Crowley, Central Christian Church of Christ’s Disciples; and November 19 and 21, The Greater Danbury Interfaith Thanksgiving Service.

The series is produced by Rev McIlrath, DMin, of Sandy Hook, coordinator of the Corpus Connecticut Community and ecumenical chaplain to the Lutheran Home of Southbury. Viewers are invited to respond to the programs at lionofjudah56@gmail.com.
