Obama Is Subsidizing Laziness
Obama Is Subsidizing Laziness
To the Editor:
Governor Romneyâs comments about those not paying any federal income tax certainly resonated with me and my family. But not the way the main stream media portrays. I believe this number over-estimates the people who will automatically support Obama and choose âsocialism.â This also ignores all of Obamaâs many failures: his failure to unite the country, his failed foreign policy the results of which we see unfolding before our eyes, Obamaâs failure to protect our borders, Obamaâs excessive deficit spending (borrowing), that is growing our debt to the point of bankruptcy, and Obamaâs promise âIf I donât reduce our national deficit by half Iâll only be a one-term president.â (As he admitted, âthatâs just campaign rhetoric,â and weâre hearing a lot of it again ).
I actually find the Democratâs fake outrage concerning the truth spoken by Romney an insult to the wisdom of the American people.
Note: while 47 percent are receiving federal funds this does not mean all are on the federal dole. Many retired people receiving Social Security and on Medicare worked productive lives, raised their children, sent them to college⦠many without government help. These people contributed to their Social Security and Medicare and are still paying for their Medicare. These people did not grow up and prosper because of socialism, and Iâll bet they do not view a future based on food stamps and government hand-outs as one they would choose for their children and grandchildren.
And Iâll bet that most of those unemployed due to this financial crisis are not happy about the fact they are still unemployed and on food stamps. They want jobs, not more food stamps! All of these people are not automatically Obama supporters.
While most of the 53 percent who actually pay federal taxes do not resent the 20 percent who truly need help (those with real disabilities or below the federal poverty level), we all do resent the others who are able bodied but find sitting home drinking beer more acceptable than working. And everyone should resent those scamming the system.
Most people understand that âyou always get more of what you subsidize.â And Obamaâs subsidizing laziness by using taxpayerâs dollars advertising food stamps for everyone on TV is not an encouragement to peopleâs success.
Voting for Obama due to his popularity will not solve our many problems nor provide viable solutions to create jobs in the private sector and grow our economy, but like Greece, will doom us to socialism and national bankruptcy, including a life of misery for generations. Note, we have $4 gasoline do you think your life will improve or that we will create more jobs when gasoline and fuel oil reaches $5 or $6 per gallon?
