Field Hockey Team Battles
Newtown High Schoolâs field hockey team fell short in a hard-fought comeback effort of Immaculate of Danbury, 3-2, at Treadwell Park on September 20, then bounced back with a 2-0 victory at Watertown on Tuesday.
In the Immaculate game, Kelly OâSullivan and Anna Grillo had goals to help bring Newtown back to within striking distance before the Mustangs fended the home team off.
At Watertown, Rachel Wiberg and Erica Thill scored and Thill and Caroline Kingsley earned assists.
Newtown improved to 2-2 heading into the Friday, September 21 visit to New Milford. After visiting Weston the next day, Newtown will return home for a game under the lights at Blue & Gold Stadium on Tuesday, October 2 when Masuk of Monroe comes to town for a 7 pm start.
