Eileen Rohmer
Eileen Rohmer
Eileen Rohmer, 40, of Oakland, Calif., who grew up in Newtown and graduated from Newtown High School in 1990, died September 16, in her home, with her loving husband Keith Cormier and her mother, Maureen Rohmer, by her side. She was born in White Plains, N.Y., July 24, 1972, to Maureen Rafferty Rohmer and the late John Rohmer
Ms Rohmer fought a brave fight with breast cancer, which she chronicled in a blog with her characteristic spirit and sense of humor.
She was a graduate of Oberlin College, Class of 1994, and Wake Forest University, N.C., 1996. Ms Rohmer taught chemistry at Rye High School in Rye, N.Y., then Piedmont High School in Piedmont, Calif. Her enthusiasm for the outdoors and its natural beauty brought life to her classroom.
She loved sewing, gardening, traveling, and her beloved pets.
Her devoted husband; sister Meghan Gioffe of Newtown; and her mother, also of Newtown, survive Ms Rohmer.
Ms Rohmer received cutting-edge care at the University of California at San Francisco; therefore the family appreciates contributions in her memory to UCSF breast cancer research at makeagift.ucsf.edu.
