Role Reversal: When Your Parents Need Caring For

Shelton — St Vincent’s Medical Center if Bridgeport is sponsoring a free talk open to the general public on “Role Reversal: When Your Parents Need Caring For” as part of its Listen & Learn Lecture Series for Baby Boomers. The talk will take place Tuesday, October 2, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at Il Palio Restaurant, 5 Corporate Drive.

Featured speaker Daniel Wollman, MD, PhD, will explain what aging parents are experiencing, how to acquire the best health care for them, how to prepare for any issues that may arise, and provide tips for navigating these foreign waters as children take on the role of caretaker.

Dr Wollman, an internist and geriatrician, is medical director of the Palliative Care Program at St Vincent’s Medical Center, director of the Center for Comprehensive Care in Shelton, associate medical director of Evercare Connecticut, and an adjunct professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

After receiving a doctorate in philosophy, Dr Wollman went on to earn his medical doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania. He performed a postdoctorate fellowship and research fellowship in neuroimaging and completed a residency in neurology at Yale University and in internal medicine at Columbia University. He then went on to earn a research and clinical fellowship in geriatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

A question and answer session will follow his presentation, and light refreshments will be provided.

St Vincent’s “Listen & Learn” is a free series of talks for the community by physicians on health and wellness topics in an effort to help area residents stay well. Participants learn from experts in the field about medical topics and prevention strategies, and how to sort through confusing consumer health information available to consumers.
