To the Editor:

I have known Joseph Borst for about 12 years. In fact, Joe Borst was among the first individuals to extend a hand and welcome me to Newtown when we arrived. He made both my wife and I feel like we made the right choice in moving to Newtown. After having known Joe and having the opportunity to work with him over the past 12 years, I feel stronger about Newtown being a great place to live than ever before. Citizens like Joe Borst give me that type of confidence about Newtown.

I met Joe through the Republican Town Committee and he was serving as a Second District Council member, where he still serves today. Since then, I have served as the vice chairman of the Republican Town Committee, chairman of the Public Building Committee, and an officer on the Board of Education. In each capacity, I have had the privilege of working with Joe Borst. Joe has demonstrated an honest concern with the continued growth and success of the Town of Newtown. He has served Newtown with integrity on a volunteer basis for over 20 years. He has demonstrated a commitment to balancing the needs of all of the citizens of Newtown by supporting those projects necessary to Newtown’s future while exercising fiscal restraint and wisdom in assessing its impact through taxes.

Joe understands what it takes to make Newtown a great place to live. He introduced me to many of the best things about Newtown 12 years ago when I moved here, and he has been working each day since to make it better.
