IPN Supports Joe Borst

To The Editor:

On behalf of the candidates of the Independent Party of Newtown, I’m pleased to announce that we will be supporting the Republican team of Joe Borst for first selectman and Paul Mangiafico for selectman in this election.

IPN also has decided to support the candidacy of Republican Bob Mulholland for a seat on the Planning & Zoning Commission.

IPN candidates and their supporters will be actively campaigning for Joe, Paul, and Bob, in the weeks ahead as we pursue our shared objective of creating change at the top of our town government. We will also continue our support for Ruby Johnson as a candidate for Legislative Council in District 3.

IPN is throwing its support behind Joe, Paul, and Bob because they are men of integrity who have been strong, independent voices in our community. We need a change from the same old approaches to government that have led to a lack of vision and long-range planning, and deterioration of our school, town, and recreational infrastructures. Joe, Paul, and Bob, with their extensive experience in business, community affairs, and local politics, are the right men to get the job done.

It’s understandable that the current administration wants to focus on what it perceives as its past accomplishments and avoid talking about what it plans to do in the future to fix the problems that it has created.

However, that is exactly what this election is about. Who the voters believe will be best suited to take on the challenges of the future, not who is best suited to bask in what they believe is their glorious past.

IPN candidates have placed their focus on solving the issues of today that will have a significant impact on what our community will be tomorrow. We believe that Joe, Paul, and Bob are three people that share that focus. We urge you to vote for them on Election Day when you vote for IPN candidates for Legislative Council, Board of Education, and Police Commission.
