DUI Arrest
DUI Arrest
Police report that after he learned that they held a warrant for his arrest, Mario Rivadeneira, 26, of Danbury came to the police station on the night of September 19 and was charged with driving under the influence and with driving without a license.
Police said the charges stem from a late night May 18 motor vehicle accident near 40 Berkshire Road involving three vehicles. Following that collision, Rivadeneira and another person were transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Following arrest processing, police released Rivadeneira from custody on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on October 3.
Truck Vs Deer
Motorist Alfred Green, 46, of 301 South Main Street was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck northward on South Main Street, near Wills Road, about 6:15 am September 11, when a deer entered the street, resulting in a collision, police report. Police took no enforcement.
F-350 Vs F-350
 About 1:30 pm September 17, motorist Michael Byron, 33, of Pitcher, N.Y., who was driving a 2003 Ford F-350 pickup truck westward on Wasserman Way, near its intersection with Nunnawauk Road, stopped on the road shoulder and then attempted to make a U-turn, but collided with a westbound 2006 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by Stefano Zandri, 45, of Ridgefield, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Byron for making a U-turn.
Reckless Driving
Police report that early on the morning of September 22, they were conducting a stationary radar speed check on Mt Pleasant Road, when they detected motorist Matthew Amaral, 22, of 206 Berkshire Road driving 90 miles per hour in a posted 40-mph zone. Police said they stopped Amaral on Mt Pleasant Terrace to investigate.
Police charged Amaral with reckless driving. Police then released him on a written promise to appear in court October 5.
Three Charges
At about 1:20 am September 24, police stopped motorist Keith Arnold, 21, of Brookfield on Church Hill Road to investigate, after which they charged him with failure to display a front marker plate, driving while under suspension, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After arrest processing, police released Arnold on a written promise to appear in court on October 9.
Hanover Road
Police said that at about 7 pm on September 20, they observed motorist Michael Klar, 30, of 129 Hanover Road driving a pickup truck 41 miles per hour in a posted 25 mph zone on Hanover Road, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police charged Klar with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license. Klar was released on $50 bail for an October 4 court appearance.
Flagpole Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the hazardous flagpole intersection of Main Street and Church Hill Road about 2 pm September 11.
Motorist Carlos Vasquez, 43, of Danbury was driving a 1997 Nissan pickup truck northward on Main Street and approaching the intersection, as motorist Geoffrey Allison, 16, of 14 Palestine Road, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet station wagon, was waiting at a stop sign on Church Hill Road to make a right turn onto northbound Main Street, police said.
As the Chevrolet was making the turn, the two vehicles collided, according to police. There were no injuries. Allison received an infraction for making a restricted turn, police said.
BMW Vs Subaru
About 12:42 pm September 15, motorist Laiching Sun, 43, of Poverty Hollow Road, who was driving a 2001 Subaru station wagon southward on South Main Street, stopped for traffic and was waiting to make a left turn onto Ethan Allen Road, police said.
Southbound motorist William Sherman, 56, of Orchard Hill Road, who was driving a 2007 BMW sedan, then struck the Subaru from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Sherman received an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.
Moving Violations
About 5:30 pm September 20, police stopped motorist John Bardin, 23, of Waterbury on Wasserman Way for not displaying a marker plate on rear end of his vehicle.
Police charged Bardin with failure to properly display a marker plate, driving while under suspension, and with failure to return a suspended driverâs license to the state.
After Bardin posted $50 bail, he was released for an October 4 court appearance.
Hawleyville Crash
At about 12:50 pm September 6, motorist Thomas Evagash, 71, of 66 Scudder Road, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, was attempting to make a left turn from Saw Mill Road onto westbound Mt Pleasant Road, as motorist Christina Morgado, 42, of Danbury was driving a 1996 Saturn sedan eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, police said.
The Saturn then veered to avoid colliding with the turning Toyota, but the Saturn collided with two trees, police said. There were no injuries. The accident occurred at Saw Mill Roadâs western intersection with Mt Pleasant Road.
Police said Evagash did not yield the right of way at a stop sign.
Sandy Hook Center
Police report a two-vehicle collision on Glen Road, near its intersection with Riverside Road, about 10:50 am September 14.
Northbound motorist Katherine Harding, 20, of Southbury, who was driving a 2000 Honda Accord, struck the rear end of a northbound 2005 Ford Expedition driven by motorist Theresa Kelly, 53, of 8 Flintlock Trail, as the Ford was attempting to make a left turn from Glen Road into a driveway, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Harding an infraction for passing on the right.
Rear-Ender
About 9:30 am September 14, motorist Vincent Verlezza, 44, of Southbury, who was driving a 2000 Jaguar S-Type sedan on Berkshire Road, stopped for a work crew on the road, police said.
Motorist Nicholas Harris, 20, of 95 Forest Drive, who was driving a 2002 Ford Escape, then struck the Jaguar from behind, police said.
Harris reportedly told police that he was distracted by the actions of a passenger in the Ford. There were no injuries. Police issued Harris an infraction for following too closely and for distracted driving.
Dodgingtown Collision
Police said that on September 15, motorist Constance Donohue, 65, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2003 Subaru station wagon northward on Hattertown Road, stopped at a stop sign at that roadâs intersection with Dodgingtown Road.
Donohue then slowly drove the Subaru forward for a better view of the intersection and was struck from behind by a 2003 Jeep sport-utility vehicle driven by Christopher Buccieri, 40, of Mt Nebo Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Buccieri received a written warning for following too closely.

DUI Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, John E. Staley, 58, of 42 Bennetts Bridge Road turned himself in at the police station on the afternoon of September 20 and was charged with driving under the influence.
Police have said that Staley was driving a 2006 Nissan Murano sport-utility vehicle westward near 162 Berkshire Road at about 11:30 pm June 15, when the vehicle struck the metal guardrailing along the right side of the road, reentered the roadway, and then rolled over onto its roof off the left side of the road. The crash occurred near Berkshire Roadâs intersection with Grayâs Plain Road.
After the June accident, Newtown ambulance volunteers transported Staley to Danbury Hospital to be treated for injuries.
On September 20, police released Staley on a written promise to appear in court October 4.
Three Charges
State police said they stopped motorist Matthew Gaudet, 19, of 1 Hillcrest Drive for speeding on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 12:23 am on September 20.
After investigating, state police charged Gaudet with speeding, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gaudet was released on $2,500 bail for an October 1 court appearance, state police said.
I-84 Crash
State police said motorist Matthew Mullaney, 25, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., was driving a 2005 GMC Envoy sport utility vehicle westward on Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 2 am September 24, when he fell asleep at the wheel and entered the highway median, striking a section of metal-beam guardrailing.
Mullaney was not injured, state police said. Mullaney made a travel lane violation, state police said.
Berkshire Deer
While driving a 2005 Toyota Camry sedan eastward near 189 Berkshire Road about 6:40 am September 20, motorist Rozet Gjidoda, 48, of Shelton encountered a deer that had entered the road, police said. The auto and the deer collided. Gjidoda was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Multiple Charges
After responding to a domestic dispute on September 23 at 7 Sand Hill Road, police charged Oscar Alves, 43, of that address, with disorderly conduct, second-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, and criminal attempt to commit first-degree arson, police said. Police held Alves on $25,000 bail for a September 24 court arraignment on the charges.
Credit Card
Sometime between 7:15 and 8:45 am on September 21, someone entered an unlocked vehicle on the Fairfield Hills grounds and stole items from it including a credit card, police said. That credit card was illegally used after the theft, according to police. Police are investigating the burglary/theft and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841.
Brookfield Man
Police said they received a report on September 24 that Mark Taylor 41, of Brookfield was allegedly harassing a local resident and had trespassed onto that residentâs property.
Police said they located Taylor at Edmond Town Hall several hours later and arrested him on charges of second-degree harassment and third-degree criminal trespassing.
After he posted $100 bail, police released Taylor for an October 10 court appearance.
Main Street Crash
About 8:13 am September 24, motorist Delsha Thompson, 38, of Windsor, who was driving a 1992 Toyota sedan southward on Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by southbound motorist Roseanne Baranowski, 45, of Church Hill Road, who was driving a 1997 Chrysler sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Baranowski received a written warning for following too closely, according to police.
