*AMERICAN MORTAR ORIGINAL ROCK BAND will be at Hot Shots tonight (Friday, September 28). There is a $3 suggested donation for this show, which will start around 9:30.

I think I may have made it sound in last week’s column like the band would be playing at the Hot Shots on Mt Pleasant Road but – and this is important to note – American Mortar will in fact be playing in the original Hot Shots location, in Ricky’s Shopping Center at 71 Main Street South in Newtown. So sorry for the confusion.

In addition to the music – “half covers, both classic and newer rock, and half originals, extremely new rock,” wrote Susan Washburn last week – the evening will also feature a presentation of some of Susan’s original art.

*QUEEN LATIFAH will bring her Trav’lin Light Tour to Stamford’s Palace Theatre on Tuesday, October 9, at 8 pm. Tickets are $65, $70 and $75 (plus a $5 handling charge), and can be ordered directly from the theater’s box office by calling 203-325-4466 or going to the Palace website, StamfordCenterForTheArts.org.

Latifah will also be at Foxwoods next month, performing at the casino’s Fox Theater on October 13. Tickets for that show are $55 and $66; call 800-200-2882 or visit Foxwoods.com for any Foxwoods Casino show.

*DEBORAH GIBSON will also be at the Fox Theatre this season. The singer will be headlining on Friday, November 2; tickets for that show are $16.50 and $22.

*Tickets went on sale this week (on Thursday morning) for a November 10 show by DEBBIE HARRY. Those tickets are $33 and $4.

*Also priced at $33 and $44 are the tickets for a November 23 show by SAWYER BROWN, also in the Fox Theatre. Those tickets are already on sale.

*If the Rockettes kicking up their heels at Radio City Music Hall doesn’t say it, then perhaps the return of BRIAN SETZER to Mohegan Sun with his annual Christmas show says the holidays are again upon us. Setzer will play two shows on his 6th Annual Christmas Extravaganza Tour on November 30 and December 1 at Foxwoods Casino.

*As of the beginning of this week, tickets were still available for Saturday night’s ELVIS COSTELLO-BOB DYLAN concert at Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. Prices started at $60 and seated with in the mid to upper seats area on the left side (facing the stage).

At this point, your best bet is to call the box office directly, 203-345-2400, or even TicketMaster to have the tickets held at Will Call (203-368-1000).

*Nowadays he’s busy growing Kona coffee in Hawaii, but fans of Jesse Colin Young fondly remember him for The Youngbloods (“Get Together”) and the No Nukes movement. He has since done plenty of solo work, formed a record label (Ridgetop Music, in 1993) with wife Connie, participated in Take Me Home: A Sampler of American Artists for Peace, and continues to perform occasionally, traveling away from his home and organic coffee farm in Kona, Hawaii.

JESSE COLIN YOUNG & CELTIC MAMBO will perform, in fact, at Fairfield Theatre Company (70 Sanford Street; telephone 203-259-1036) next weekend. Tickets for the October 5 performance are $42 ($32 for FTC members), and doors open at 7 for the 7:30 pm show.

*Speaking of FTC, here’s a reminder that HOWARD JONES will be headlining in Fairfield on Thursday, October 4 – doing an acoustic show – and as far as I know tickets are still available ($42, or $37 for members).

*Former Credence Clearwater Revival leader JOHN FOGERTY will be at Mohegan Sun on November 9. Tickets are $35 and $45.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
