Newtown League Of Senior Voters Candidates' Forums
To the Editor:
The Newtown League of Senior Voters has organized a series of meetings in October at the Senior Center with the different candidates running for elected positions in town government. It is our belief that a better informed resident will make a better decision that will prove beneficial to the growing senior community in Newtown.
This is a very important election since the new town government will be faced with serious financial challenges and decisions which will directly impact the lives of all residents but especially the Newtown seniors who are seeking greater recognition and representation in exchange for the huge tax contribution they make every year to the town budgets.
Every meeting that starts at 4:30 pm will begin when each candidate will be given time to state their qualifications and reasons for running and what they hope to contribute once they are elected. This will follow by a Q/A session where attendees will have chance to ask questions, to react to what they heard, and finally to express any concerns they have with what was not mentioned by the candidates.
Please note the following dates in your calendar. There are many candidates seeking positions in town government including those of First Selectman, Board of Education, Legislative Council, Finance/Ordinance Committees, Town Clerk.
