Alma W. Crumb

Alma W. Crumb, 93, of Easton, died September 20, in St Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, after a brief illness.

She was the mother of Leon W. Canfield of Sandy Hook.

Born in her family home on North Street in Easton on May 28, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie Wells. She was predeceased by five siblings, two loving husbands, Ernest Canfield and Palmer Crumb, and a stepson, Roy Crumb.

She is survived by a brother, Volney Wells of Monroe; three other sons, William B. Canfield of Southbury, Clarence E. Canfield of Ansonia; three step-sons, Clarence Crumb, Philip Crumb and Jack Crumb; a niece, Elaine Vanasse of Monroe; four nephews, Charles Canfield of Monroe, Kenneth Canfield of Southbury, and Thomas and Charles Wells; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a grand niece and grand nephew; and a great-grand nephew.

A Memorial Service will be held September 30 at 2 pm in the Stepney Baptist Church with burial immediately following in Stepney Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Stepney Baptist Academic Building.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Easton Outreach Program, c/o Municipal Agent, 650 Morehouse Road, Easton, CT 06612, The American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.
